ACDA Goals and Strategies

ALLIANCE BUILDING

ACDA schema persCommunity building forms the foundation of all ACDA’s cooperation efforts. Relationship is based on the idea that all parties are equal.  Membership participation, dialogues, coordination and unity result in dynamic partnership where everyone achieves more.  Convergence building is a strategy adapted to stimulate local or regional partnerships and collaborations along common needs and concerns.

CONVERGENCE BUILDING

minpeacer extended 2 copyMinPeace (formerly called Mindanao Convergence) was formed as a result of a series of dialogues facilitated by Alliance on Christian Development Agencies (ACDA) on understanding the peace issue. The Convergence became the forum for peace and transformation initiatives. From relief, strategic alliances were formed known as geo-groups in almost every region of Mindanao.

MinPeace geo-groups were mobilized for disaster mitigations, peace education and conflict mediation. MinPeace gained experience and recognition from the government in the area of mediating peace dialogues. CARCON, the geo group in Northern Mindanao, was recognized by the Commission on Human Rights as human rights advocates in the region. They are consulted during human rights fact finding missions.

Itinerant trainers for peace and development were trained and mobilized to facilitate peace workshop in grassroots communities. Peace workshops were done in major provinces like Davao, Zamboanga del Norte, Kidapawan, Marawi and Cotabato. When done in grassroots communities, peace workshops are often preceded by community development planning which became precursors to the implementation of community projects like the establishment of a social hall, water facilities and other infrastructure projects. The restoration of peace paves the way for other development initiatives like teaching natural farming technologies, literacy training, and other social and economic engagements.
